Ashland, Oregon is noted for it’s great weather, mountains, Lithia Park and the world famous Shakespeare Festival, as well for its easily accessed outdoor accommodations. This includes but is not limited to its trail system used for hiking, running, mountain biking. Amazing river rafting can also be found just around the corner on the Rogue River. Lectures and discussion are held in Jared Cruce photography’s 1350 sq. ft studio space in Ashland. Participants in photo and location lighting workshops will enjoy shooting class assignments in and around the quaint city and mountain environments.
The Pacific Northwest Art School workshops are located on beautiful Whidbey Island in Washington State. Nestled within the beautiful San Juan Islands this is a true mecca for artists of all stripes. Visual artists in from every medium draw inspiration from the shorelines, forests, prairies and waters of Whidbey Island, offering a combination of geography, flora and fauna that lift spirits and fill the heart. With plenty to do: whale watching, sea kayaking, cycling, hiking, boating, birding. And access to great meals at one of the remarkable variety of island restaurants, you’re sure to find an amazing experience.
Field Workshops such as the Rogue River Workshop are on location. We provide course level recommendations for our courses to help guide you in finding a workshop that will fit your skills and abilities. Course Level Guidelines
Level 1 – Beginner – New or has basic understanding of SLR camera.
Level 2 – Intermediate – Very good working knowledge of manual controls of camera. Some experience with digital editing software
Level 3 – Advanced Amateur – Very comfortable with manual controls of camera. Proficient in digital editing software. May have a developed portfolio of images.
Level 4 – Professional – High level of proficiency with SLR cameras, equipment, and digital editing. Has a developed portfolio of images.
Registration and Payment Policies:
Since enrollment is limited, we encourage you to apply early. Email or Call to check availability before registering. Please do not make travel plans before registering or being told a workshop is a “go.” We encourage you to choose more than one workshop in case your first choice is full. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
For Workshops in Ashland
$100 deposit is required at the time of registration
(includes non-refundable $35 application fee)
Balance is due 30 days prior to the start of the workshop
For Workshops Outside of Ashland
$100 to $300 deposit is required at the time of registration
(Deposit varies from class to class)

Offered to participants who take two or more workshops in Ashland during the same calendar year. A 15 percent discount will be applied to the tuition of the lower-priced workshop(s). This discount may not be combined with any other discount or scholarship program. Other restrictions may apply*.
We rely on your attendance to make important arrangements, so if for any reason you need to withdraw, please notify us 30 days or more before the start date of your workshop. At that time we will refund your deposit by check, less a $50 cancellation fee for Ashland workshops and a $75 cancellation fee for workshops outside of Ashland. If notification of cancellation is made 15 to 30 days before the start of the workshop, we must retain the deposit. If notification of cancellation is made less than 15 days before the start of the workshop, we must retain the entire balance paid. Jared Cruce Photo Workshops reserves the right to cancel a reservation if full payment has not been received by 15 days before the start of the workshop. No refund of any fees will be made for withdrawal after the workshop begins. Jared Cruce Photo Workshops is not responsible for cancellations due to medical emergencies. We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. In the event that a workshop must be cancelled due to inadequate enrollment, all fees and deposits are refunded in full or may be transferred to another workshop within 12 months. Jared Cruce Photo Workshops is not responsible for reimbursement of non-refundable airline tickets in the event of a workshop cancellation. Please check on your workshop status before making travel arrangements.
Accommodation and Travel
We can facilitate and give recommendations for lodging in Ashland during your course. Our Ashland studio is situated within walking distance of many bed and breakfasts and quaint motels, world class restaurants and bars. For those flying in to the workshops Rogue Valley International Airport services Ashland and the Rogue Valley. It is an international airport and has direct flights to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Phoenix and others. Airport identifier is MFR. Normally a car is not required. Car rental is available in Medford at the Airport.
